Image of

Everyone knows that the commercials are the real stars of the Super Bowl, but let’s be honest, the food is a pretty close second. This year, ditch the boring chips and dip and impress your guests with something truly epic: Fried Pickles!

These crispy, tangy bites are the perfect combination of salty, savory, and crunchy. They’re easy to make, fun to customize, and guaranteed to disappear faster than your team’s chances in the fourth quarter if they’re down by 20 (we’ve all been there).

Why Fried Pickles Are the Perfect Super Bowl Party Food:

  • Crowd-pleaser: Everyone loves pickles, and everyone loves fried food. It’s a win-win!
  • Easy to make: You can whip up a batch in under 30 minutes, even if you’re a kitchen newbie.
  • Customizable: Add different spices to the batter, use different dipping sauces, or even throw in some cheese or jalapenos for an extra kick.
  • Budget-friendly: Pickles are cheap, and the rest of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry.
  • Portable: Make them ahead of time and serve them at room temperature, so you can mingle with your guests instead of being stuck in the kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar (16 ounces) dill pickle spears, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Fry ‘Em Up!

  1. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Working in batches, carefully fry the pickle spears for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Drain the fried pickles on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

Serve and Devour!

  1. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce and watch your guests devour them!

Tips:

  • For extra crispy pickles, double dip them in the batter and breadcrumbs.
  • If you don’t have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1/2 cup of milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pot when frying, or the pickles will get soggy.
  • Fry the pickles in small batches to maintain the oil temperature.
  • Get creative with your dipping sauces! Try sriracha mayo, cajun remoulade, or even a sweet and spicy chili sauce.

With these tips and tricks, you’re guaranteed to make the best fried pickles your guests have ever tasted. So grab your ingredients, fire up the fryer, and get ready to party!
